Overview
Blacksmiths forge weapons, mail and plate, plus the sharpening stones, keys and rods other players need. The profession swallows stone and bars by the hundred, which is why most smiths also take Mining; buying everything is possible but costly.
Beta build: the skill thresholds on this page were checked against the Forever beta client. Reagents and thresholds can still move before release, and a recipe that has gone yellow no longer gives a point on every craft, so buy a small margin.
- Blacksmith Hammer: buy one for a few copper as soon as you train. Stones do not need it, but everything from the first gauntlets onwards does. Capital trainers have a supply vendor beside them; in the starting zones look for Flakk (Razor Hill), Tharynn Bouden (Goldshire), Thrawn Boltar (Kharanos), Elisa Steelhand (Auberdine), Walter Mason (Deathknell) or Abigail Shiel (Brill).
- Flux and dye: Weak Flux and Strong Flux are sold by the Blacksmithing Supply vendor next to each capital trainer; Green Dye comes from Tailoring and Leatherworking Supply vendors.
- Earlier thresholds than Classic: the client shows most plans turning yellow, green and grey roughly 25 points sooner, so do not reuse a Classic shopping list.
- Camp items: Sharpening Wheel at skill 20 (1 Rough Stone, 1 Copper Bar) grants a Strength buff at a campfire. Anvil (skill 140: 5 Bronze Bar, 2 Coarse Grinding Stone, 2 Medium Leather) and Master Forge (skill 300) come from blueprints and double as workstations.

Apprentice (1-75)
| Skill | Craft | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 1-25 | 30× Rough Sharpening StoneYellow from 15. | 30 Rough Stone |
| 25-50 | 30× Rough Grinding StoneYellow from 45. Set 26 aside: 16 for the gauntlets, 10 in case you make Silver Rods at 75. | 60 Rough Stone |
| 50-67 | 36× Coarse Grinding StonePoints thin out near the end, but craft all 36: the bronze bracers use every one. | 72 Coarse Stone |
| 67-75 | 8× Runed Copper GauntletsFirst step that needs the hammer. | 64 Copper Bar 16 Rough Grinding Stone |
Journeyman (75-150)
| Skill | Craft | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 75-80 | 5× Runed Copper BeltA Silver Rod (1 Silver Bar + 2 Rough Grinding Stone) gives the same point: prefer it when one Silver Bar is cheaper than ten Copper Bars. | 50 Copper Bar |
| 80-95 | 15× Rough Bronze Leggings | 90 Bronze Bar |
| 95-100 | 5× Patterned Bronze Bracers | 25 Bronze Bar 10 Coarse Grinding Stone |
| 100-112 | 20× Heavy Grinding StoneNot every stone gives a point. Keep them: they are the fallback reagent at 175. | 60 Heavy Stone |
| 112-125 | 13× Patterned Bronze Bracers | 65 Bronze Bar 26 Coarse Grinding Stone |
| 125-140 | 24× Bronze ShortswordYellow for the whole stretch (green at 140), hence 24 crafts for 15 points. | 120 Bronze Bar 96 Weak Flux 48 Medium Leather |
| 140-150 | 10× Bronze WarhammerStill orange. | 80 Bronze Bar 10 Strong Flux 10 Medium Leather |
Expert (150-225)
| Skill | Craft | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 150-175 | 30× Green Iron BracersYellow from 165. | 180 Iron Bar 30 Green Dye |
| 175-185 | 40× Solid Grinding StoneFew of them give a point, but the helms at 200 need 37. Stopping at 200? Make 10x Golden Scale Bracers instead (50 Steel Bar, 20 Heavy Grinding Stone). | 160 Solid Stone |
| 185-200 | 15× Heavy Mithril GauntletMageweave is rare under the beta level cap. Heavy Mithril Shoulder has the same thresholds: 15 of them cost 120 Mithril Bar and 90 Heavy Leather. | 90 Mithril Bar 60 Mageweave Cloth |
| 200-225 | 37× Steel Plate HelmYellow from 215 and green from 220 in the client. If you own Plans: Mithril Spurs (world drop, sometimes on the Auction House), switch at 210: 15 spurs cost 60 Mithril Bar and 45 Solid Grinding Stone and stay orange. | 518 Steel Bar 37 Solid Grinding Stone |
Artisan (225-300)
Not played yet: the beta level cap stops characters short of Artisan, so this range rests on the skill thresholds stored in the client, not on a tested run. Forever shifted many thresholds compared with Classic, so a Classic Era route is not a safe substitute. Check this part again at launch.
Train Artisan with Brikk Keencraft in Booty Bay once you reach skill 200 and level 35; he serves both factions. A step-by-step route for 225-300 will be published here after it has been played on live servers.
